From your Soviet disc, copy maps02.mix and movies02.mix to your RA2 directory.

From your Allied disc, copy multi.mix, theme.mix, maps01.mix, and movies01.mix to your Red Alert 2 directory.

Download and install XWIS’ Red Alert 2 multiplayer distribution from this page.

The procedure below bypasses the problem by using the multiplayer-only release by XWIS (which was created under EA’s permission) and placing the necessary files for singleplayer usage. Coupled with the removal of the SafeDisc driver, there is (at the time of writing this guide) no way to install the game from the retail discs directly on Windows 10. I have the retail CD version and DO use Windows 10 / 11.įor some reason, the Red Alert 2 installer refuses to work on Windows 10.

If you are not using Windows XP, browse to the directory you installed the game to and set game.exe and ra2.exe to always run as administrator and in compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 3 or Windows 7.

Patch the game to version 1.006, the latest official patch.

Install the game as you normally would.

If you are not using Windows XP, exit the autorun and run setup.exe from the disc’s setup subfolder as administrator.

Insert either Red Alert 2 disc to your CD/DVD drive.

If you are not using Windows XP, make sure you have re-enabled the SafeDisc driver by these guidelines.
